After breakfast, set out to explore the volcanic landscapes of the island’s south.
First stop at Las Salinas to observe the historic salt flats and learn about their economic significance for the island.
Continue to El Golfo for a stop at Lago Verde (Green Lake), one of the most spectacular places in the Canary Islands. This dramatic landscape was sculpted by fire, sea, and wind. The true name of Lago Verde is “La Laguna de los Clicos.” It is an amphitheater-like crater that formed after the 1730 eruptions. The green lagoon is actually part of a volcano’s crater, visible when imagining the cone intact.
Next, visit Timanfaya National Park.
The Fire Mountains of Timanfaya are part of a vast area affected by volcanic eruptions between 1730 and 1736, and later in 1824. This extended eruptive process was one of the most significant and spectacular volcanic events in recorded history.
A 5,000-hectare volcanic site, Timanfaya still exhibits volcanic activity. You will visit the park by coach, as access is strictly regulated, but the experience is still breathtaking: petrified lava flows, deep crevices, and craters where nature has yet to reclaim the land.
Lunch at a panoramic restaurant in the heart of the volcanoes, where you can watch chicken being grilled over volcanic heat.
In the afternoon, return via La Geria, a wine region where vines grow in volcanic ash. Enjoy a wine tasting at a local vineyard and discover the region’s unique cultivation techniques.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
