Tenerife’s adventurous sidefor families and friends who enjoy being active

Nature, the sea, forests and mountains: this week reveals several faces of Tenerife through accessible, guided and varied activities.

Explore the volcanic landscapes of Teide and Teno, cross lava flows by mountain bike, paddle beneath the cliffs of Los Gigantes and discover canyoning in a volcanic ravine. Local encounters also play a major role: an artisan cheese dairy, banana plantation, rural traditions and marine wildlife watching.

Seaside accommodation offers a gentler end to each day, with time to swim, spend time together and enjoy Tenerife without turning the holiday into a constant race.

Discover Masca hamlet before following a trail through the massif’s ridges. The hike reveals differences in vegetation and microclimate between slopes, along with ancient volcanic formations telling Tenerife’s geological story.

The route reaches Teno Alto, a farming area where goats still supply milk for local cheeses. Also discover “Salto del Pastor”, the traditional technique shepherds use to move through steep terrain.

Continue to Arenas Negras, whose historic eruption profoundly affected the Garachico region. The scenery then changes to rural areas and El Tanque Ecomuseum, which explains islanders’ daily life in the past.
